Spontaneous Idea -- Let Our Readers Pick Their "Top Five"
In Response To: Hodinkee Picks Five, from the Heuer 100 ()

Someone has suggested that we solicit "Top Five" choices from our readers . . . Let me work on that, and see how we might handle this!!

The usual approach --

  • pick five that you would want to own and wear, for the rest of your life
  • you may not trade them or sell them, so no need to consider the present or future value;
  • you will be buried with them, so they will be of no value to your estate.
  • you will be throwing away all your other watches . . . so it's these five, forever. So pick the five you want to wear, not the ones you need to complete your collection.
