Can you make out any printing under the reprinted shield? Perhaps there was an initiative to brand these Skippers for another company - i.e. Zodiac or Tradition. Possible that instead of scrapping the dials, if the rebranding didn’t work out, they simply branded over. Similar to what we see with the Zodiac logo over the Heuer logos in some pieces. Or, perhaps the initial logo printing was flawed in some way, and again the over print was the solution to correct. My pure guess would be my 1st though. Would be interesting if any part or a initial logo or letters from a brand could be made out.
