Hey Steve,
thanks for all the good work!

You certainly ain't an idiot, that's for sure!

It appears to me that the earlier pies have "slab sided" crowns, and kinked lugs.

My gut feelings are with you, regards the gold - a bit too ostentatious?

Simplicity is highly attractive!?

I am veered towards date also, although the hour wedges, squared crown and kinky lugs of no.2 are distracting me!

The fixed price and lack of importation hassle of no.5 attracts.

Asides, the 564 movement, from what I have researched, appears to be one of the best ever produced?

Also, looking to get a watch that was produced on, or as near as poss. to my birth year - 1968!

You're absolutely right about looking and learning though, I started off looking at 'normal' seamsters, fixating on 'cosmics', and then, with a few distractions, the 'pie-pans'!

With amazing observations along the way, such as the one on the enclosed link - check the skew whiff 2, the 'going for a wander' star (wandering star, ho ho, whoops, sorry!), and the crown that magically changes.

Many regards from Scotland,
John
