Re: Well, the SeMPC is a GREAT watch!

Sorry for any confusion. I'll go by Al now.

In the Tag line, I really like the Carrera watches. They are very elegant. In the Rolex line, I have also become enamoured of the Datejusts- but with Arabic numbers, and the new Oyster band and clasp. Still, $5K for a watch.... Maybe someday.

The problem is justifying that type of purchase in my mind when I have 3 kids- there are basically always something more relevant to purchase, save for, etc..Being in Sales though, the watch is something of a key indicator.

: It has now been over a month since I brought
: my Omega in to fix the clasp. Little did I
: know that my SMP Chrono (yes, blue) would
: need a complete overhaul. The price quoted
: was steep- nearly $600. The SeMPC
: (Bond) is a GREAT watch... Nearly 8 years
: ago I called it the best all-around sports
: chronograph on the market. Today, I still
: feel the same way.

: While I have been waiting, I have been
: looking at possibly every other watch out
: there. My thoughts even drifted towards
: selling the watch when it came back, and
: buying something else.

: No more, I have been looking at plenty of
: watches, primarily Rolex, and there is
: nothing like the Omega. Truthfully, I can't
: really afford a Rolex, but I dont think I
: would buy one even if I could stretch to do
: it. The Submariner and GMT are lovely
: watches, but do not have the heft of the
: SMP. And, if I may, they suffer from a
: uniqueness issue. And unless you get a
: Daytona (read PRICEY) they don't have a
: chronograph... How boring! =)

: At the risk of having insults thrown at me,
: I did also consider a Tag. Everyone in my
: office has one, they look nice, and they too
: have a lineage. But why take a step down in
: watch? There is nothing wrong with
: looking at TAG-Heuer. TAG-Heuer is making as
: many if not more interesting watches today
: as they have since TAG bought out Heuer in
: the mid 1980's. Now the old Heuers are
: definately worth looking into and
: considering, but some of the newer models,
: especially the AquaGraph 2000, are
: definately worth looking at.

: Now they tell me that my watch is in quality
: control at Omega, and it should only be a
: few more days. I feel like a kid on December
: 23rd. I can't wait to click the watch back
: onto my wrist. I am excited by my SMP once
: again, like the day I got it. I can
: easily understand. My SeMPC is my
: "Go-To" watch. If I'm wanting to
: wear a watch and I can't make up my mind in
: a minute or two, typically I Go-To the
: SeMPC. It's the best all-around sports
: chronograph out there!

: Cheers and Good Hunting!
