First I've heard of it too.... *PICS*

: Thanks for sharing Joey. I enjoy reading John's
: reviews. Did you notice the following
: statement near the end of the review?

: "rumor has it that the SMP is being
: discontinued by Omega"

Hmmmm..... No, it seems like I missed that.....

: This is the first I've heard this rumor. I was
: even speculating that Omega would upgrade
: the black SMP with the co-axial movement and
: applied markers. Has anyone else heard this
: rumor?

Now, I've heard about THIS rumor. It would be logical to upgrade the 2254.50 (black SMP) since Omega has done it to the Bond right????? The 2254.50 has also enjoyed widespread use in the Omega community; it is one of the most popular Omegas out there. So it wouldn't make sense to discontinue it right?????

Well..... It we put a co-ax movement into the watch and an ungraded dial, it would increase the cost quite a bit..... Up close to the PO, a similar watch...... Both are considered to be tool watches, but are the differences between the watches big enough to sell without competing against each other? I think so......

I think that the rumor that John H. gave is unfounded (like all rumors!). I doubt that the 2254.50 is going to 'go the way of the dodo.' I also hope that it doesn't go because I actually prefer the 2254.50 over the PO because of its slimness (which would probably increase with the new movement).
