In Response To: AT 2008 & the 8500 movement ()

: Here's the Aqua Terra announcement:
: Good news: Better legibility on the hands and
: dial, Won't be in stores until later this
: year (save your pennies) Bad News: Different
: dials, Expect higher prices Unknown: New
: bracelet design

: Here's last year's sales brochure on the new
: movement, the 8500, introduced in the Hour
: Vision. Now it's being used in some other
: watches like the revised AT.

: Good things written about it, but not
: time-tested. Here's a magazine article, just
: remember you're not reading Consumer
: Reports.:

: Take your time, learn about different brands
: and features, then buy something you'll
: truly enjoy. There's a huge number of good
: watches in all price ranges.

: A final note - Most mainstream watches,
: including Rolex Datejusts, are pretty easy
: to find used in good condition at a decent
: discount. There are quality sources for them
: and you don't have to go to ebay and weed
: out the fakes and junk.

: Just like cars, depreciation is your greatest
: cost when buying 99% of new watches, no
: matter which one you choose. Get referrals
: to good dealers, whether you buy new or used
: to minimize headaches.

A few adds to this thread

The Hour Vision annual calendar will have a general release late in the year, in addtion to the limited edition.

Omega made two versions of a perpetual calendar mechanical, in 1984 and 1991. It is considered one of the most difficult complications.
