I agree with consensus. A good friend just paid $3,500(US$) for a new submariner and I just bought a new Seamaster (Bond) for 1/3 of that price, so I have had the opportunity to do a direct comparison (we even went swimming together with our watches). In direct comparison it was clear the Submariner felt lighter, tinny, and not as solid as the Seamaster. Also, the crystal on the Submariner is not domed like the Seamaster and does not have that flush appearance. Of course, my friend loves his Sub, but simply for the fact it is a Rolex. I'm happy with my choice (although I second that earlier clasp comment, I already have a few scratches on it and I have been very careful.)
