: I was wondering if it is bad to shake the watch
: to wind it

I think what was said earlier was in the context that shaking it is a horribly inefficient way to try to quickly wind the watch. It is not bad for the watch. But the automatic rotor winding system is intended to wind the watch very gradually.

For a quick wind, it is always faster and better to simply unscrew the crown and manually wind it from there. Spending 10 seconds giving the watch 20-30 manual turns of the crown equals an hour of 'shaking' to wind it.
