I'm new to the vintage heuer world, but saw a Camaro I recently and am now attempting to find a nice example. At this point, I'm most interested in a 7220 (V72 movement) but had a few questions:
- Are the dials among the 7220's interchangable? In other words if I got a 7220 with the tachymeter ring on the dial, could it eventually be swapped out for the non-tachymeter ring when I find one? I actually prefer the cleaner look of the non-tachymeter versions.
- There is one very clean example I've found but the seconds / chrono hands are clearly not original -- is this fixable or are these parts unobtanium?
- Where are recent values for these pieces? Posts seem to indicate $1,500 - 2,500 is doable but all the ones I've seen listed are $2,500 - $3,500. Is this just the spread between finding a "deal" vs. clearing prices from dealers / traders or have prices moved up alot in the last year?
- Are there good sources for an original strap (or at least an original buckle)?
Thanks in advance, I've definitely enjoyed learning about these unique watches through this forum.
