Hi John.
The earlier watches were sold as head only (although Heuer did deign to supply a plated buckle with them) so "original strap" is something of a moot point anyway.
When I bought mine in early 2009, several were sold in the space of 2 or 3 months for around £/€3000. They've been trending upwards since then, but Arno's example was definitely an outlier as regards price! Probably £/€4k is securing most of them that change hands now, though that is bracketed on either side by a considerable amount.
Interestingly, Bonhams have another on sale in 5 days, it will be interesting to see how much it makes outside of the framework of the Haslinger auction:

I imagine it will be considerably closer to the "normal" market price. Not sure about the combined scale on that example, plus the pushers look a bit exposed.
