Re: Heuer Carrera 12 Dato / Or is it Clebar ? ? ?

Jeff, you are right, all Heuers I have seen in metal used the thicker case with the thinner lugs.
Mostly with a serial number between the lugs, two or three were blank.
I remember seeing other clebars with heuer-leonidas signed movements, maybe the dial was changed during service ?
Cheers

: I few days ago, you posted a message indicating that you have seen
: several of the "fat-lugged" Carrera 12 Datos, as shown
: below, and believe that they are authentic Heuers (rather than
: Clebars with replacement dial / bridge / case-back). This is
: interesting, as I have never seen this case used for the Heuers
: (only for the Clebars). Let me see what I can learn, from our
: best expert here in the U.S.

: I notice that the one currently on auction seems to be going cheap
: (with several hours remaining). I wonder whether this might be
: attributable to concerns about authenticity, preference for the
: skinnier lugs, or prevailing economic conditions? Or maybe it
: will "pop" toward the end of the auction.

: In any event, thanks for raising this issue of the
: "fat-lugged" Datos . . . I think that they are great
: looking; I will like them even better if they are authentic!!
