Re: Alfas....
In Response To: Alfas.... ()

: These cars go back a long ways with me. I had a couple of them in
: the late 60s and early 70s. They were a love and hate affair to
: be sure - LOTS if maintainance issues but I could do the
: repairs. Around 1970, my 2 brothers and myself all had Alfas and
: 1 parts car in the garage. Here is a couple of them from 1972, I
: am on the right. The watch I had on then was the first single
: button chronograph made by Seiko.
: The 159 that I rented in Italy is a whole different world compared
: to the old ones - would love to have a new one in the US.

Great photos Craig. I love the Stepnose GTVs- I think they're more distinctive that the later cars. INteresting to see the shift in design language from the Giulietta to the GTV- a lot squarer. Beautiful cars. Yes, its love and hate. I drove mine around for 3 months with basically no brakes- you had to pump 3 or 4 times before you got any pressure.

As for the newer Alfas, I think they've made a mistake trying to make the range look like the 8C. That car is a masterpiece in itself, but I think that the 159-style language is more successful on mainstream cars. The Mito just doesn't look right to me at the front.
