Heuer diver - Customise or restore

I recently picked up a rarely seen oversized 42mm Heuer diver (980.021), the two-tone model (as a non-runner). I've got it working (just needed a battery) and I was thinking about customising it with a matt black PVD case & bezel and doing something with the hands. I was inspired by the custom PVD Autavia that I'm sure you all know about. But, part of me thinks I should keep it original restore it back to as it was.

Your thoughts are welcome!
