Re: Autavia 2446 Second Execution Dial - Questions

Hi Andrew

Your questions and concerns are understandable especially if this is your first big step into the vintage Heuer world. Research is imperative and there is no better source than OnTheDash. Arno's book is the next best thing and compulsory reading for anyone venturing into this world.

No matter how much I think I have learned there is always something new and that usually comes in the fine and very fine detail that the true experts see while I am just looking. So posting a picture is the best way for the experts to uncover any faults or areas of concern.

With regard to the 2446 2nd exec dial I have not seen any fakes. Worst case would be a redial or an incorrect movement. I did see something similar recently with a non Heuer (possibly Hamilton) signed val 72 movement. I believe the bridge signature should be either Ed-Heuer & Co S A or Heuer-Leonidas SA. This model also has a very distinctive engraved screw caseback, sword/pointed steel hands and the steel hour markers with the luminous dots - not easily sourced and thefeore not worth trying to fake. An unpolished case and good bezel are a bonus. I think I know the watch you are referring too (not many good examples of these come along that often) and the only concern would be the lume on the hands which does not match the hour luminous dots. A dealer price of 3,000 Euro is the top end for a very good example.

Hope this helps and good luck with you search.
Regards
Paul
