Some people can take the great photos of the Heuers. I can't, so I do what I can do, which is to analyse them thoroughly and hope that the result isn't too dry and too thorough to turn everyone off from reading it!

Interesting that you attribute the Carrera 30 to Belgium. Correctly, I should add, as the generally accepted "Belgian Congo" for these ceased to exist in 1960, well outside the possible timescale for any Carrera, let alone one powered by a Valjoux 7733! It went through a number of name changes in a few short years but it does appear Belgian troops were still stationed there, possibly until the creation of Zaïre in 1971, which is shortly after most of these watches were issued (casebacks are typically marked '70). Some more to that story for someone to have a dig at - maybe it's one for the book :)
