The double bidding is probably the result of coming second once too often. I know when I started using eBay, trying to buy Autocourse annuals, it was terribly frustrating at first until I learned, then mimicked, the other bidder's tactics. And because you could see the other bidders' IDs back then, you would start recognising specific tactics and second guessing them, just as it was with buying watches on eBay too back then. Some things I picked up then I still use in bidding now ;)

Good for the seller, I'm glad she didn't let one of the lowballers take it for a song. It's at the low end of the going rate for me, but it's this sort of money all day long, never in the hundreds. I liked her idiosyncratic listing style, reading that was pretty engaging.
