A simply beautiful chronograph

A while back I got totally absorbed with the beautiful Universal Geneve's you guys were posting, then the Zeniths were put on show, and I loved them. I set about doing a bit of research, and was a little down heartened to find that the UGs were quite small at 36-ish mm, and the Zeniths were rather hefty on the wallet & hard to find. Then I spotted a Speedmaster Limited Edition.. 300 made for Japans famous Mitsukoshi store.. I believe Chuck Maddox managed to bag one when they came out. These are like hens teeth & hard to get as the UGs.. so...

I did some research & found that a few Omega collectors had made custom conversions themselves with a standard Speedy. Makes sense, the Mitsukoshi just had a different dial & handset.

So, I bought a nice standard 2001 Speedy, ordered a dial & handset from Ofrei.. and gave it all to James, who did the business with it. It does differ from the original Mitsukoshi, as I have kept the white sub dial pins and white centre sweep hand - I thought it had a more Heuer/UG look to it this way. Anyway, I'm totally chuffed with it, I think it's one of the coolest looking 'domino' dial chronographs out there. The bonus is that being a modernish watch, it's more useable as a daily watch, but maintains the a classic vintage looks and feel. I also have the option of the Omega Steel bracelet too.

It's a good way to get a lot of bang for your buck.. dare I say it.. I think it's better looking than the white dial Daytona Cosmograph!!!
