Thanks Stewart. I think the watch will be fine. When I bought it, the jeweler gave it a one year warranty so to me that meant that they had a lot of faith in a 40 year old watch even though it looks like it spent most of its life in a drawer. I took it back on Friday and by Saturday they emailed me and said it was working fine. They said one of the casing screws was loose. I won't be able to pick it up until early this week, so they said they would keep an eye on it just to be sure it was working properly. That seemed like a good plan to me.

I will enjoy the watch for a while and then decide whether to have the case refinished. The watch looks nice with a polished case, but I probably will have it fixed since the rest of the watch is in great shape. I wish I could take watch photos to show this as well as everyone else around here, but I guess i just need more practice.

That sounds like an excellent excuse to buy more vintage watches.

cheers,
Phil
