There are some for it and some against it. bottom line is that it is down to personal preference.

I would not be put off by a relume when considering a purchase as long as it is a quality one. It is a bit like re chroming the bumpers on a Ferrari 250 GTO, would you or would you keep the vintage rust spot look on them? I know what I would prefer ...

My view is that it would look a million dollars with a nice re lume as long as it is done conscientuously and in line with style. There are some excellent relumers who regularly frequent the forum that will be able to give you their take on the subject ...
