Re: Siffert sold for EUR 10k!
In Response To: Siffert sold for EUR 10k! ()

I'm a bit confused on why a few people here on OTD think what they would pay for a Siffert is what it should be worth. For that matter, any specific watch.

Why is it crazy that someone would pay more for a watch than what the guy next to him "thinks" its worth. I am an amateur collector, so I am no expert by any means, but in my personal belief, and someone who is willing to spend a lot of money on these vintage pieces each month, a big attraction outside of the brand is the unique looking quality and scarcity of a watch. From all the various Autavia's that I have seen, the Siffert stands out to me due to the fact that it has the white dial and blue hands, which in my opinion, makes this watch "pop" against all other Autavia's. In addition, there are not too many of them out there (from what I read maybe a couple thousand). So what one person thinks an item is worth, vs what someone is willing to pay, does not make the value of an item over or under valued. To each his own. Only history will tell. My 2 cents.
