Hello, Lorenzo. I can't answer your two questions, but what a nice watch! I doubt if the noise you can hear matters too much, but obviously it should not be there! In the long run one knows that "noise denotes wear". So I wonder about the service it has had: how do you know who the dealer is and that he is "fairly reputable looking"? Unless you are really satisfied with the service, I personally would have it done again.

As for having something done to the dial, could you not spell out exactly what you want done and not done to it when you send it for cleaning? Are you going to send it to STS or someone else?

The crown seems OK, though some Seamasters of 1966 had the bigger crowns with the four grooves. You will find both types illustrated in the catalogues in Steve's website.

I also stopped buying Seamasters after my third one; the others just came along later ...
