Re: Watchwinders and Restoration...

Matt. As to watchwinders, I never understand the need for them! My watches just run down and linger until they are next used. People are anxious about the oils drying up, but I believe modern oils last a long time without being churned up by all the little cogs they look after. I reckon to wear any watch in my small collection at least two or three times a year, so none of them lingers for long!

If they were all on winders, they'd get much more wear.

With regard to Swiss Time Services, I have had several of my watches serviced by them and they have always done an excellent job. They seem to be quite a bit less expensive than the prices shown for servicing by Bienne. The things you want doing should be included in the service, but it's a good idea to be specific when you send the watch to them. IF you send it to them! I don't know about Steve's man - he sounds interesting!
