Cajun I agree with all execpt this one point

: Funny, virtually everyone I know that owns a
: Rolex does have money, as it takes serious
: bucks to own one. Wealthy people usually buy
: Rolex FIRST because they are usually
: clueless as to what they are actually
: buying, but just want it for STATUS.

Maybe it is more about where you live, but if anything I find what Tom to say is true, that many who buy Rolex do so on credit and typically in knowing more than a few Rolex buyers they aren't made of money and work their tails off to own one just so they can say that they have made it, and the ADs I have spoken with confirm the same (ironic eh?)

Also I find that most Rolex owners balk at the cost of service, they would rather live with a watch that keeps poor time than pay the $400+ for a repair, most don't care about the time anyway so long as it says Rolex on the dial and they can brag it was expensive.

I have certainly met a good deal of people who have money and also own/wear a Rolex, but I have also met those who most certainly cannot "afford" them yet over extend themselves just to show off....same with lower end Mercedes and BMW
