Re: Broken red dot seal
In Response To: Broken red dot seal ()

Update:

I contacted my dealer this morning and again told him my concern. He stated the following:

He contacted Omega Germany to ask them for advice. According to him he agreed with Omega to send them the watch. They will check form and function and seal it again. Also there will be an extra certificate signed by the quality assurance people and some important Omega manager. This package will be returned to the dealer together with a little extra 'Omega feature'. Omega told him they would have send a new one if the model was still in production, but because it is an old model this is no option. My three options as far as I can see:

1. Take this Omega (of course including the above mentioned)
2. Get my money back
3. Excange this one for a new current model (and pay extra) --> I have to say I like the BA 3303 (far) better...

Any new reactions? Thanks again! Pfew choises choises

With regards,

Erik

: Hello to you all,

: I need some advice. I recently bought a new Speedmaster Broad Arrow
: cal. 3303. Since the model isn't produced anymore, I got 30%
: off. The salesman told me; new old stock. All papers,
: certificates etc. are there. As far as I can say on this short
: term, no technical problems. Bought the watch from an original
: dealer (In 2002 I bought an new speedmaster date from this
: dealer without any problems). The next day I discovered the red
: dot seal was not intact. The red part on the case back was half
: a cm seperated from the red part on the case. I immedialteley
: took the watch back to the dealer. He assured me he never opened
: the watch, that it was new and that I had full warranty. He had
: to admit though that the seal was broken. He had no idea what
: coused this. At first he wanted to put on a new red seal
: himself, but I insisted on sending it back to Omega, to let them
: put the red seal on. My first qustion is:
: 1. Did I do the right thing? Since there is no replacement he
: cannot offer me a replacement.....and is is a very very nice
: watch!
: 2. Does anyone know if Omega checks the watch if they seal it
: again? Are they willing to seal it again at all? Does anyone
: know?
: 3. Any thoughts at all?

: Thanks for your reply, appreciate it!

: Regards,

: Erik
