Re: More vintage than not . . .
In Response To: More vintage than not . . . ()

Hello Sam, here are my answers for today's questions.

1) Why vintage?
2) What was the last vintage you wore?
3) And if not Omega, what was the last vintage Omega you wore?
4) If you don't have a vintage watch at all, which of your watches will be treasured by collectors 20 years from now?

MY ANSWERS:

1 - The vintage choice has a number of reasons:

- the first one is price, as they come at a considerable discount against the new ones and the more time passes, the more I am convinced that new ones are not worth the premium.

- then design: apart from some classics that have hardly changed throughout time (e.g. the Moonwatch) I seem to like watches from the late '60's to mid-80's much more than today's.

- finally history: most of these watches were connected to something special, be it the Moon quest for Omega Speedys, the Carrera Panamericana and the racing world for Heuer etc. And so much because of their sheer nature and the fact they were actually liked and relied upon by the professionals of those fields.

2 - The one I've been wearing for a couple of weeks now and today as well: a 1973 Speedmaster Mark IV ref. 176.0009.
3 - Not applicable, as the vintage one already is an Omega ;-)
4 - Again not applicable, but as far as current Omegas are concerned I like the Railmaster chrono really a lot even if I don't own it.

Cheers,

Fabrizio
