The Monaco has a split stem (the stem is in two parts that slot together) . You have to turn the crown while pulling on the dial until the stem slides in half . So they did not know that and drilled or the stem got stuck and they drilled . I would bet , by where they drilled , they though the stem set bridge release would be under that part of the body .
