Very nice find - I have benn looking for this model for some time and perhaps I too will find one a thrift shop someday.

I have your watche's cousin - the Orvis Solunagraph and when I had it serviced it took quite a bit of pressure to get the back off (my watch makere did it). Here's a quick shot:
