: when we refer to a particular watch as being "first
: series", "second exection" or maybe "Mark
: One", we are identifying the watch by inspecting its
: features / elements and then putting the watch into the correct
: category. For example, we know that the very first Autavia
: chronographs had a screw-back case and a dial with larger
: registers, so we call that first execution or first series. When
: we see a Carrera 2447, and the applied markers have gone from
: thinner to wider, then this one has gone from first to second
: execution. Other elements like smooth or knurled pushers,
: details of the hands, style of the markers, numerals on the
: registers, screw-back or snap-back case, etc. help us place a
: watch in its proper sequence.
: Yes, it would fantastic to be able to assign years of production to
: particular models and versions, but we do OK with the
: information that we can assemble, as a group. This adds to the
: fun of putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
