Olive Drab Guy / SPY = 3.5
In Response To: Re: Heuer 510.502 Olive Drab ()

we do not have access to the records of actual production numbers, and as the years go by, it becomes more difficult to even hazard a guess.

to me, the relevant metric for the collectors is simple -- if we are watching diligently in all the usual places (for example, ebay, classified boards and the online delaers), how many samples do we see in a year? I am working -- slowly and quietly -- on a small table that will compile some of this information. in my mind's eye, this column on the yet-to-be-written table is called SPY (samples per year) or the SPY Index.

for the olive drab guy, I would say that we see three or four decent samples per year . . . so I give it a SPY rating of 3.5. whether they produced 1,000 or 100,000, the key point for collectors is the number that we see now . . . and that number is very low for this watch.

all this, in my humble opinion.
