expensive Quartz should not exist
In Response To: Quartz vs Chronometer ()

: but when I compare a Quartz Seamaster
: 2541.80 to an Auto version 2531.80 I find:

I feel you missed the point. In my opinion, better Swiss watch companies should nowdays never ever include any Quartz in their lines. Quartz watch is worth only a few $. So, in any case, I can not justify paying more than say, 200 USD for best and best equipped Quartz watch. They are expandible goods for people usually wanting cheap wathes who will tell time (far better than 2000 USD mechanical watch).

If you need watch just to know your time, buy Quartz for 10 USD. To spend 2000 USD or more for a watch, well, it takes some different thinking.

Good mechanical watch should work perfectly after 50 (and more) years, quartz will not be something you can pass to your son :)

Mechanical watch costs this much because of craftmanship. OK, more or less, but, basicaly it is so. Many of them really are (almost) worth thir price.

If you enjoy briliantly made mehanical things, go for mechanical watch. Enyjoy its noises :) and complexity. Otherwise, buy quartz for 10 USD.
