Re: Novelty watch?
In Response To: Novelty watch? ()

I guess it depends on ones point of view.

I find this watch, as attractive as it may appear, to be a blatant form of advertising, at a premium price, which panders to 007 fans. Its effectively an extremely attractive and well made Mickey Mouse watch. In the long run it may or may not hold its value, but that's not why I buy a watch. I personally would be uncomfortable wearing it.

The original SMP is connection enough to 007 for me. I didn't buy mine because its used as a movie prop, I bought it because I really like the way it looks and feels. You don't see Rolex fouling a Submariner with such advertising, and with regard to 007 books and films, they have a better right to do so than Omega..

So enjoy it, if it pleases you. Its definitely not for me, though.

: Novelty watch? Hardly. Omega has taken a
: classic and given it new life as a unique
: piece of jewelry commemorating the
: connection between James Bond 007 and the
: Seamaster. IMO, the 40th Anniversary 007
: Commemorative is much more attractive than
: the regular Seamaster. Let's face it. This
: Limited Edition is the most exciting watch
: from Omega in years!
