Our tastes are indeed influenced by marketing.. the whole fact of you mentioning that James Bond wore the quartz watch in Goldeneye clearly shows that the product placement affected you.. In fact its one main reason why sales of the SMP have risen since the 1995...

The Swiss Chronometer certification is part of marketing... but automatics do have a traditional vibe to them... its like owning a vintage car...Yes the new models are faster and more economical but they dont have a traditional sense... (and mental arithmatic is better than using the calculator in many circumstances...:o)

and speaking of saving money... just buy one of those mickey mouse watches at K mart... Theyre accurate... and cute too.. :o)
