I think you've missed the point alltogether

No one here (that I know of) has ever claimed or expected mechanical watches to be more accurate than Quartz watches.

People I know who collect mechanical watches do so because of their knowledge of what goes into one. The craftsmanship, engineering, beauty and passion. I used to think the way you do, until I "got it". These "low tech" miniature machines are truly amazing. I've had some pretty terrific Quartz watches, including the Omega Speedmaster Pro X-33 and the Tissot T-Touch. Ultimately I sold them because they gave me no satisfaction of being special in any way.

May I suggest you rent the A&E production of Longitude. It's the story of John Harrisons life work.

If you truly want accuracy, forget about quartz and get yourself an atomic updated watch. Quartz has its place, just not on my wrist (for now).
