But seriously folks, I'd say it's just a small sample blip, akin to those weeks when there's two Sifferts and a Monaco up for sale (or it's 60 degrees for two days in January and we all start thinking about global warming.)

The reality is that there's still plenty of action on e-bay in the vintage guitar world and many vintage pieces bring more than even the most expensive Heuers. So I don't think it's the economy. Or the scammers pushing the e-bay market past the tipping point.

Maybe sellers realize that many potential buyers are in a body-fat induced watch limbo (like me) waiting to see where their wrist size stabilizes before buying more watches. 34 pounds and counting. Another 10 pounds and I might be able to get my wedding ring off. Maybe.

A word of advice to my good friend Abel: Getting married was the best thing I ever did. Sizing my wedding ring when I weighed 168 pounds (at 5'11" my all time adult low)? Not so much.

best
