I recall this as well- that Heuer decided at the last minute that the name "Monza" was more marketable than "Modena", which if true would make the Modena the early version of the watch rather than the later version. By the 1980's Heuer seemingly decided that it had enough with naming watches after racetracks and switched to the far more alluring use of meaningless numbers
