Antiquorum Webpage re DirectBid / Some Questions

Here is the Antiquorum page re DirectBid --

http://data.antiquorum.com/eng/html/db/index.html

It will be interesting to learn more about this platform. Some of the key questions, from my perspective:

  • What will the fee structure be?
  • What assurances will there be re authenticity and mechanical condition?
  • Will there be enough buyers to yield good action / good prices for the sellers? How long will it take for this market to develop?
  • Will there be sniping [I assume not] or will there be "auto-extend" or "anti-sniping" built into the program?
  • Who will set the estimates? Will this be done by Antiquorum or by the seller [which has always been troublesome to me]
This is an exciting development in the world of vintage watches; the true value of the platform will lie on how well this marketplace develops . . . as we all know, without depth of sellers, there will be no traffic from buyers, and without buyers, sellers will be hesitant to list their watches.

I am optimistic about this platform, and hope that it will be the biggest thing to hit the vintage watch scene since eBay.

: [b]Have a look at this, first news of new platform being launched
: by Antiquorum; continuous online auctions.

:

: So is this the magic platform, to bridge the ever-widening gap
: between eBay and the high-brow auction rooms? Here is a favorite
: sentence from this report: "Most importantly, buyers will
: have the peace of mind of knowing that they are not buying from
: an anonymous seller, but that Antiquorum’s experts have
: thoroughly examined and described each watch being sold on
: DirectBid." We need to learn more about this platform, but
: I would say that it looks very promising for the type of watches
: that we collect.

: Thoughts?
