Re: Autavia 1163 Cal. 11 - Anyone enlighten me?

Thanks Paul, I was just looking at your wonderful photos as a reference.

Essentially, I am trying to establish if a watch is original - It is a 1163 T, Cal. 11. The bone of contention is the hands. They are the red filled with red tips.
On searching the web, I have found several examples of the earlier Cal. 11 model with these hands, but some research says that the cal.11 should have steel hands.

I found this picture online, it is identical to the watch I'm interested in... is this layout/hands correct for a cal. 11 movement???

Also, from a buyers point of view, would it be better for me to get a Cal. 12 version. Or are the cal.11 rarer??

Thanks
Stewart

: Stewart - as far as I can tell the only distinguishing factor about
: the Viceroy is the V above the 1163 engraved between the lugs.
: The Viceroy also featured the Tachy bezel and I would guess that
: the majority would house a cal 12 movement. The dial and hands
: are the same as the later 1163 MH which also has the white
: stripe in the hour markers. The confusing thing is that you can
: obviously get a Tachy bezel on a 1163 without the V on the case.
: Is that a Viceroy as well? Maybe someone else can clear than one
: up.
: regards
