Re: v92 vs 77x
In Response To: v92 vs 77x ()

I think this was one of the big drivers behind Valjoux acquiring Venus. The Vj72 family and Vj92 were sophisticated and elegant movements, refined over decades, but this in turn meant Valjoux couldn't easily make them down to a price, affecting their margins. The Venus 188 could be made, and thus sold, more cheaply but still with better profitability. That's why the 77xx movements, right down to the near-ubiquitous 7750, owe more to the Venus 188 than Valjoux's own venerable 72 and 92. They made plenty of amendments of their own of course - you can already see this when comparing a 7730 to a 7733.
