I could be all fluffy & nice & say it's great, but I'll be honest...

(All in my opinion, of course..) the dial is pretty bad. Ex- Mil watches are well sought after even if they are really battered and have a bucketful of patina/rust/paint loss etc etc. The fact that the bridge is wrong, coupled with the complete redial would suggest to me that the original movement & dial may have been completely ruined, maybe caused by water damage - who knows. If it were bad enough to completely destroy the dial, then my guess is that the movement isn't original to the watch either, negating the watches military history.

Yes, the date wheel is correct, being black numerals on silver.

If I were you, I'd try to find a replacement dial. Preferably a battered one with plenty of patina, so should be cheap enough, then you would have a cool Heuer AAF.
