Monnin bracelet
In Response To: Re: Amazing collection ()

Paul,
Yes, the Monnin certainly stands out on the oyster type bracelet.
As we know, the very early Heuers were seen in the catalogues with oyster type bracelets. For whatever reason, these were dropped in favour of the jubilees.
Maybe there was a 'quite word in Heuers ear' from Rolex, or maybe it was just a late 70's/early 80's thing to have the jubilee - I have no idea.
Anyway, I digress..

So, I bought a rather nice quality solid link oyster bracelet from a US ebay seller. (bandfever) The quality is superb, and it narrows down at the clasp nicely - very vintage-esk. Cost about $15 which is an absolute bargain. Unfortunately the endlinks didn't fit. I contacted Roy from RLT watches, he sold me a brushed & polished oyster, the endlinks fitted, just. So I took the endlinks from Roy's bracelet and brush finished them (the center part was polish) and used them with the fully brushed oyster from ebay.

My next step is to swap over a Heuer clasp from a tired old jubilee bracelet. I know this isn't 'factory', but it's a massive improvement from a tired old jubilee that will probably sit in a dark drawer for eternity.

: Hi Stewart - I know we have been calling for this shot for some
: time so thanks for delivering. Never easy to do the group shot
: especially when your expectations and ours of your pictures are
: so high. Never the less you have done a great job and its
: wonderful too see them together like that. The Monnin looks
: great on that bracelet. Can you shed some light on that and the
: fit of the end links?
: regards
