Re: Well said

Nice write up, Stewart. I too am a fan of the manual Carrera and early Autavia.

While I can appreciate the variety and splash of color found in the Heuer automatics, the original Carreras are at once elegantly simple and beautiful, with a wrist feel that is perfect for their size.

: Mark Moss.. and Paul Gavin.. you both ground me down eventually :0)

: I have shown this here before, but I thought a further 'blame game'
: thread was in order...
: I've always admired the Carrera, but it was just too small.. I said
: that without trying one. You both said 'try one'.. but there was
: no point, I'm a later Autavia fan through n through.. I started
: a hunt for something Carrera-esk that was 40mm+, I found some
: great watches, but they weren't a Carrera. It niggled at me, so
: finally I caved in and bought a 3647NT from Lanny.. and my my..
: it was small. Oh dear, what a nightmare - the watch was
: beautiful, but stupidly tiny. I was right, just to small.

: I wore it, it was too small.. I wore it some more, it wasn't that
: small.. I wore it more & more and I got used to it. It
: clicked, it wasn't too small at all. I had been used to bigger
: watches. I was over the moon, it wasn't too small, it's just a
: case of getting used to it.

: Anyway, I now like the fact that it isn't massive, and look forward
: to wearing a smaller, lighter watch. It's such a classic, and
: when I say that, I don't mean the particular model I've bought -
: I mean the Carreras in general - but I have to say the one I
: grabbed is superb, I really am attached to it now.

: Anyway - a big thanks to Paul & Mark for finally making me see
: the light - and Lanny for selling it to me :0)
