Re: Monaco Madness -- grey dial variations?

dear Jeff,

i hope all is well and you and your family are enjoying the holidays.
as a proud new owner of 73633 G monaco i became interested in the history of these timepieces.
i will try to post pictures once the project is finished.

the updated table for monacos looks great - i am wondering how detailed
this table should be: if you look at the early catalogues featuring the monaco
grey dialed version of the models 1133 G the dial appears to be untitone, grey with
grey subdials as well (as seen in the 1970/71 brochure).
in the 1973 brochures onwards the grey dialeld version appears with black subdials -
maybe heuer changed it for better readabilty / better contrast?

also the model 73633 G was produced with two different dial variations: grey/grey and grey/black.
in the 4colour brochures until 1973 it is shown with grey subdials. in 1974 the newly introduced
model 74033 appears already with grey dial and black subdials

is the correct conclusion that early grey dials had untione grey subdials until 1972/73 and
black subdials afterwards? what are your thoughts on these dial variations?

i want to thank you for this fantastic forum and i wish all of
you happy holidays and a fantastic 2009!

best wishes from vienna

: it was a quiet night here in Atlanta, so I played with the Monaco
: section of OnTheDash, cleaning up some of the sections, filling
: in some of the Galleries, and -- finally -- working on the
: Monaco Reference Table. Of course, this renewed effort was
: inspired by the beautiful 74033B photographs, received from
: Arno, Nic and Ralf . . . thanks, guys!!

: Before "going final" with this Table, it would be great
: to have input from our readers. So you can view the working
: draft of the Monaco Reference Table through the I-Frame (below),
: or Click Here to get the Table to open in a new browser
: window. Please keep in mind that this is still a draft; far from
: final.

: Are there any corrections? Are there any additions? Should we add a
: column for "Samples Per Year", to indicate the
: relative scarcity? Any other recommendations? Of course, the
: final version will have links to photos of each version of the
: Monaco.

: Thanks also to Jasper for reminding me that this Table needed some
: work; thanks to all our readers for suggestions and input.

: Jeff
