great tool !!

I am very much in admiration for the creators, for people with a profound knowledge, earned spending many hours on the subject. Sharing the body of the aquired knowledge with the avid enthusiast is very exciting. Profound Research and follow up can be very tricky and extremly timeconsuming. However it is the backbone of a publication and Jeff did very well developing the price guide and is a world leading specialist in Tag Heuer watches.
I have scrolled through the tool looking at the most famous of our beloved Heuers and I find it still very accurate compared with recent auction results. Good quality stuff is getting very rare but holding prices very well. The number of collectors discovering the amazing portfolio of Heuer is on the rise, confirmed by many new publications in American, Austrian, German, English...high quality top end magazines and more than 1800 copies of my book have been sold, Jasper sold more than 700 copies on watch and car shows which is a strong indicator for rising interest.
Unfortunately there is hardly money to earn by writing a specialist book, it is all about passion for the brand, creation and communication.
I am looking for new partners who want to sell the book in their shops abroad and spread the fantastic world of Heuer Chronographs. Asia, Australia, US, South America are white spots..Please drop me a mail if you are interested and I put you in contact with the publishers.
The vintage Heuer market is all about fullfillment and demand and top quality watches are always sold quickly on ebay with buyitnow like the great siffert for 3000€ just two days ago hence there is buying power out there. Also early automatic 'Derek Bell'Autavias had a strong gain in popularity among collectors. There is more knowledge and attention to details as more publications become available to new fans and collectors.
I have learned the better watch is always the better buy even if more expensive.
On the low volume pieces price gaps are quite common. Two collectors battling for the last missing piece> high bid..cash was spend end of the month syndrom> no bid..
Cheers
Arno

: with all due respect to the critics, I will stand behind the Price
: Guide as being accurate (as of its September 2007 date) and
: useful (for someone who knows what he is reading), and certainly
: not "misleading". It is stating approximations of
: values for the very best samples of these watches, as of
: September 2007. The real point of the Price Guide is not to
: provide the values of particular watches, that will be accurate
: on a current or perpetual basis, but to give the hierarchy of
: Heuer values, and approximations of values, as of a point in
: time.

: to keep it updated would be a full time job; to pull out the dollar
: values, and use only a relative scale (AAAA, AAA, AA, etc.)
: would take away much from its usefulness; to give relative
: values and then publish some sort of multiplier or index,
: becomes very complicated. I believe that most users, who will
: take a couple of minutes to read the introduction, will
: understand the Price Guide and find it useful. Most people will
: understand that if their stock portfolios are down 40%, and the
: value of their home is down 30%, and there is a worldwide
: recession, then these September 2007 values for the Heuers
: require some adjustment.

: Maybe you can call the Price Guide "outdated" or
: "stale", but not "misleading" for the user
: who will take a couple of minutes to understand what it is (and
: what it is not).
