This evening I had the opportunity to shoot some "quick and dirty" photos of the three-register, manual-winds (73633), side-by-side. I need to see them in daylight to be more definitive, but my quick reaction is that they are approximately the same shade of gray (not really dark gray and light gray, even though this photo seems to make the one on the right appear considerably lighter), with the main difference being the color and construction of the registers (not the shade of the dial itself).

The later 73633G (shown on the right) has the darker (contrasting) registers, and these registers are flat / level with the surface of the dial. On the earlier 73633G (shown on the left), the registers are sunken and they match the color and finish of the dial; there is also something of a blue-gray tone to this dial..

So which is your favorite ? ? ?
