Here's my favorite Autavia

This is my favorite Autavia. I just love the orange hands and highlights. I have seen very few of this Autavia version the past two years so perhaps they were not too popular in their day(?)

: GMTs are the most obvious omission from my top 5; if I were to make
: it six (or 10), the next one would definitely be from amongst
: the GMTs. Probably the 1163 because of the fully numbered bezel
: and the nicer (imo) 24 hour indicator hand but, again, I think
: the late 11063 was still a very nice watch.

: My preference is still for the Carreras, of course, that's
: something unshakeable but I do feel at that period that some of
: Heuer's best design was going into the Autavias. It would be
: really interesting to follow how the design process changed over
: the years; from Jack having an idea and someone realising it, to
: people being hired as designers, to the current day with all the
: work done with computer-aided design. Probably a similar profile
: to the designers of the racing cars we associate with our
: watches - no longer the days of one man being able to take
: most/all of the credit going back to Colin Chapman, and the
: later Gordon Murrays and John Barnards, to now where it is much
: more of a team effort, although you still get the occasional
: designer "stars" like Adrian Newey.
