Re: Chronomatic From Original Austrian Family...

Agreed, nice find. I love the patina. More pics!!

: This chronomatic 1572xx has come via the original family. Living in
: Austria for most of its life and passed on to his grandson some
: 10 years ago. At this point apart from going for a service it
: was not worn again, due to it not being a style he favoured and
: its lack of durability, re waterproofness etc...Recently after
: doing some research the owner found it was a rare piece and to
: his surprise worth quite some amount! It then made the quick
: trip via DHL from Austria to the UK!

: The interesting thing about this one is that like some other very
: early 157xxx serials it has no Tool No 033 marking on the back
: case and i seem to remember this being a topic for discussion
: before and that the conclusion being the VERY early 1571xx and
: 157xxx may not having Tool markings (even more of a prototype)
: Perhaps they soon realised that due to it requiring a different
: method of opening they needed to "highlight" this
: further before too many were hacked into! Have you some thoughts
: on this Jeff...?

: The dial has started it's degradation but not to the extent that
: the other 1572xx serials have from memory. Again the white paint
: "badging" has remained as originally intended but with
: some brass shwoig through in a very pleasing pattern to the eye!
: All lume plots fully intact, again unusual for these pieces and
: seeing as the original seal melted this was very lucky!

: It's a little peice of history :-)

: Cheers
