Yes, the Mondeo segment has gotten weird in the UK with the premium models outselling the supposedly "mass market" manufacturers! The 3 series definitely looks a bit oversupplied in the UK now and I think they thought long and hard about that but fulfilling demand pays the bills better than restricting supply to preserve brand prestige.

Interesting to watch as they try and extend that to the Polo class and below, it's a tricky balancing act - not sure Merc really pulled it off with the A- and B-classes (B especially, when did you last see one on the road?), will be interesting to see how BMW sell FWD 1-series. Though I believe them when they say most existing and potential 1-series drivers don't even know whether the car is FWD or RWD...
