Believe me, I don't deny for one second that Rolex movements are of a very high quality. My own watchmaker, who has flawlessly serviced my Omegas and also restores high end watches like Patek Philippe, has told me point blank that he feels that Rolex movements are the best mass-produced movements he has ever worked with.

That being said, he did tell me that he had worked on vintage Pateks that were the best he had ever seen. Perhaps today their movements are more fragile than in years past (I am not certain because I don't have an authorized Patek retailer near me who sells current models).

He and Georges are in total agreement about the Lemania movement in the Speedmaster being top of the line, and, like me, he is very interested in finding out how Omega's co-axial movements hold up over time (in comparison to Rolex). In reality, I can understand people defending Rolex movements because they are high quality and Rolex does have decades of data to support their claims. With Omega's newer movements (co-axial, Piguet 33xx, etc.), the jury is still out. Right now I can only go by my own experiences over the short term, which tell me that my Omegas are very accurate and reliable timepieces.
