Re: In-house
In Response To: In-house ()

: Well, I respect your opinion in believing
: in-house. For arguments sake, if somehow
: someday in the future: (1) Rolex decide to
: provide 3135 to other manufacturers, then
: Rolex 3135 is not as good as it is today?
: (2) ETA decide to not supply movement to other
: manufactures, but start to build watches of
: their own (thus in-house), then ETA is
: better than it is today?

Hmmmmm..... Your questions really are difficult to answer because it's all relative.

I argee with Georges on #1. Rolex will never start selling off their movements. If they did, then the 'uniqueness' that a Rolex has will be challenged, and in my book, it would actually make a Rolex worse! It all has to do with marketing and exclusiveness, which leads into my answer for your second question. ETA would be stupid to stop selling their movements to other non-Swatch watch 'manufactures'. They would lose a huge amount of their revenue. That said, a less powerful company would be less presitagist and would be considered less noteworthy in the movement field.... in my book.........
