Re: Check Out Tissot as well...
In Response To: Check Out Tissot as well... ()

That's one thing I have always liked about my TAG Heuer quartz - very accurate as well as tough! I guess it is some sort of ETA movement.

Also, I actually bought a Vostok ($30) auto diver 300m watch and put a rubber strap on it to be a true beater, but I just never seem to wear it! It isn't very accurate, but the price was right!

I will look at the Tissot's, too. I heard good things about them over recent years but have never put my hands on one.

: I just received my new Seastar yesterday. This
: will be my "beater" diver's watch
: for the pool, beach, etc. I bought the black
: dial quartz model on a rubber strap. It
: retails for only $300, but my AD discounts
: them quite a bit.

: The reason I like Tissot is that they are Swiss
: Made, like Omegas, and they are actually
: part of the Swatch Group (Omega's parent
: company). They offer a great value for the
: money. The Seastar I bought has a sapphire
: crystal, a deployant clasp on the leather
: strap, and 200 meters of water resistance
: with a screw-down crown. For the money I
: couldn't say "no".

: I have also found that not all quartz watches
: are created equal, and Tissot's Swiss quartz
: movements are extremely accurate. My other
: Tissot quartz gained one second in the last
: two months. By contrast, I've had cheaper
: pieces of crap that have gained almost a
: second a DAY.
